Quartzite / Blown Glass Vases

Various Work - 2021

A study in material and form lead to this combination of natural stone and glass blown cylinders.

These two materials were ultimately chosen due to their characteristics that both differ and relate when looking at mineral composition, surface finish, form, and color

Process

The sandstone was sourced in central Utah and cut into rectangular segments using a large stone saw.

The glass cylinders were each blown by hand in partnership with KEEP Brooklyn.

The stones were CNC drilled at specific depths and diameters to house the coordinating glass.
