Bomen Console

Crate&Barrel - 2020

The Bomen console uses proportional scaling to determine leg sizes. The diameter of each leg increases by 1¼ inches starting from 5¼ up to 9 inches.

The legs are parallel when viewed straight on and are staggered when seen from the side. The combination of round legs with a half-round top creates sweeping intersections as the leg wraps up the side.

Material: Solid flaky oak and flaky oak veneer.

Process

The design process began with hand sketching and quickly moved to CAD in order to refine details, proportions, and construction. Wood finish and detachable (KD) legs were refined during the sampling process.
